Shadow thoughts: Celts in serious trouble, Sox lineup shaky, no more Te’o interviews

A few sports thoughts as I wait to see if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow later this week….
– The Celtics are in serious trouble with no Rajon Rondo, now out for the season with a torn ACL. I think it frees up Danny Ainge to start trading and rebuild this team. I get the sense Doc Rivers doesn’t really like some guys on this team anyway. Do it Danny.
– Getting the chance to cover young talented players like Garet Beal, Mitch Worcester and others really does keep you feeling younger.
– The Red Sox opening day lineup vs NYY lefty CC Sabathia should look something like this…tell me you’re OK with this? Not me.
1) CF Jacoby Ellsbury
2) RF Shane Victorino
3) 2B Dustin Pedroia
4) DH David Ortiz
5) 1B Mike Napoli
6) 3B Will Middlebrooks
7) SS Stephen Drew
8) LF Jonny Gomes
9) C  David Ross
– I admit I had a bit more of a personal attachment to this year’s Gaziano Linemen Award, but the folks who work on this project do a great job. The program is just three years old and I see the interest going up and up.
– What is it about the Patriots management that they don’t seem to want to take care of Wes Welker. Give the guy a little respect…and a little more money.
– What makes sports so great? A perfect example this weekend — UMaine hockey can’t win at home, then goes to BC and handles the top-ranked Eagles twice. You just never know.
– Enough Manti Te’o. Stop doing interviews and just get ready for the NFL draft. No more Katie, no Oprah. I don’t care anymore. (I would like to see the Patriots take him)
– Hard to believe – two weeks left in the regular season for high school hoops.
– As I write this Sox pitchers and catchers report to camp in 14 days.Yahoooo!
– Prediction: Phil will not see his shadow this time.
