Fall thoughts on Maddon, Bruins, Hanley Ramirez

Here comes fall…

Welcome to Class A Camden Hills Windjammers soccer team… both boys and girls team ranked No. 1 with games vs Bangor next on the schedule. The new enrollment cutoff number for soccer is 665 and Camden came in with 669 students.

— Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon is at it again. It’s the St. Louis Cardinals fault for the hit-the-batter fest between the two teams over the weekend. It was the same way when he was in Tampa Bay. Can he manage a team – yes. Is he the biggest crybaby and whiner managing a team – yes.

— Just thinking out loud…I know the money is good but can UMaine football really afford, on the field,  to play two FBS games every year?

— Jason Day. Jordan Spieth. Rory McIlroy. Rickie Fowler. I think the game of golf will be ok.  Whatever happened to that golfer that used to be pretty good…I think is name was Tiger something…

— October 3rd  UMaine baseball plays Husson at Mansfield Stadium. Nice.

— The Boston Bruins first training camp practice was last Friday morning. Last night (Sunday) they played their first exhibition game vs New Jersey. What’s up with that?

— The Portland Sea Dogs announced Hadlock Field 2016 opener will be April 14th vs.  the Hartford Yard Goats (I’m not kidding-that’s their name). Wonder is Yoan Moncada will be playing second base that day for the Dogs.

— By the way, are the Red Sox hiding a Hanley Ramirez injury? Or are they just hiding him so his trade value doesn’t drop more?

— Best new rule of the year, by far – running time in high school football when it’s a 35-point difference.

— I look at the Patriots schedule after the 2-0 start. I see Jacksonville, then Dallas with no Dez Bryant and Tony Romo. I see the Colts next and you know the chip on the shoulder the Patriots will bring. Then I see the Jets, Dolphins and Redskins…So I’m not sure who is going to beat the Pats! Is this setting up like the year after Spygate?
