Ringing in the New Year with 92.9 The Ticket, a Super matchup, the return of the NHL…

I’m looking forward to the 2013 sports year for many reasons…..
– We launch Maine’s most powerful all-sports radio station on New Year’s Day… 92.9 The Ticket will carry 50,000 watts of sports information 24/7. Clem LaBree and I will get the day started with a local morning show, with more local shows to come. Plenty of local play-by-play. ESPN sports power means Mike & Mike, Colin Cowherd, Scott Van Pelt and all the ESPN folks you know so well!
– January means the return of the NHL…I know, I know, a lot of folks still don’t think so but I’ve been steadfast in the belief that the two sides are stupid, but not so dumb to shut down for another entire season.
– Looking forward to the MLB Hall of Fame voting in early January…Not that I have a vote, but I’m voting for Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds.
– February means the high school tournament at Bangor Auditorium. Something tells me attendance records are ready to be broken. All we need is a little cooperation from Mother Nature for a week or so.
– February also means the Super Bowl. I can’t wait to see my two favorite teams meet for the Lombardi Trophy — the Patriots vs the Packers.
– I think March Madness is going to be great! I like seeing the Dukes and Indianas at the top of the rankings.
– The baseball season should be interesting..I’m thinking Toronto and the LA Dodgers will implode…an all star squad doesn’t always work — am I right Sox Nation?
– Can’t wait for this summer’s Maine Amateur Golf Tournament…The Augusta Country Club is host site — Mark Plummer’s back yard…could there be another notch on the title belt?
– I am looking forward to seeing what four classes of high school football in Maine looks like…if there are four classes.
– I am looking forward to more UMaine wins…gotta be more wins coming, right?
– I’m looking forward to enjoying more play-by-play from Sean McDonough…he recently went through four hours of brain surgery for something called superior canal dehiscence syndrome…I like this call of the game, no matter the sport.
– Speaking of sportscasters, I’m looking forward to the NASCAR season and Ricky Craven’s work on ESPN…he is really good at taking the racing lingo and explaining it to the average fan.
– 2013 means I will walk into the brand spanking new Bangor Arena for the first time.
Happy New Year!
